Vein of Marshall partially isolated with radiofrequency ablation from the endocardium

چکیده
The vein of Marshall (VOM) is widely known as a pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation (AF). To eliminate the triggers of AF, the Marshall potential can be ablated both from the endocardium with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and from the epicardium with ethanol injection. This is a case report of successful catheter ablation from the endocardium to visualize the electrically isolated area of the VOM.

Bipolar radiofrequency catheter ablation for refractory perimitral flutter: a case report
BACKGROUND Mitral isthmus is often targeted as a part of stepwise approach during radiofrequency ablation for persistent atrial ablation. Acute success rate in achieving the mitral isthmus block is only modest, late reconduction rate is relatively high and, consequently, incomplete lesion may be proarrhythmic. We describe the first-in-man experience with successful MI ablation by bipolar RF ene...
متن کاملEvaluation of Success Rate and Complication After Radiofrequency Ablation of Small Saphenous Vein and Simultaneously Sclerotherapy of Its Branches in Patients Referred to Vascular Surgery Clinic 2009-2016
Aims: We aimed to evaluate success rate and complications after radiofrequency ablation of small Saphenous Vein and simultaneously sclerotherapy of its branches in Rasht. Materials and Methods: in this cross-sectional study we followed up the patients with success rate, possible complications including pain, hematoma, thigh and leg paresthesia, neuropathy, Endothermal Heat Induced Thrombosis (...
متن کاملEthanol Infusion in the Vein of Marshall in a Patient with Persistent Atrial Fibrillation
We report the case of a 64-year-old male with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) terminated by ethanol infusion into vein of Marshall as add-on therapy. Three-dimensional automated complex fractionated atrial electrogram (CFAE) during AF revealed clustering of CFAE at perimitral isthmus (PMI) and its unipolar mapping showed rotor-like activation, which was suggested to be critical in the perpe...
متن کاملIsolation of canine coronary sinus musculature from the atria by radiofrequency catheter ablation prevents induction of atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND The junction between the coronary sinus (CS) musculature and both atria contributes to initiation of atrial tachyarrhythmias. The current study investigated the effects of CS isolation from the atria by radiofrequency catheter ablation on the induction and maintenance of atrial fibrillation (AF). METHODS AND RESULTS Using an optical mapping system, we mapped action potentials at 25...
متن کاملApproach selection of radiofrequency catheter ablation for ventricular arrhythmias originating from the left ventricular summit: potential relevance of Pseudo Delta wave, Intrinsicoid deflection time, maximal deflection index
BACKGROUND Ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) originating from the left ventricular summit is a challenge for radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA). The present study aimed to investigate the appropriate RFCA strategy for VAs originating from the left ventricular summit. METHODS Forty-five consecutive patients with VAs arising from the left ventricular summit were successfully ablated at our car...
